The scope base is exactly the same as pictured in The German Sniper by Senich. A similiar rifle, complete with scope mount,
has been sold by James D. Julia Auctions in 2014. This rifle didn't have the cheek pad, but it has holes in the stock for the cheek pad.
Looking at the scope mount on this rifle made it quite clear why this type wasn't produced in large numbers. The scope was far offset to the left, and this requires the cheekpad,
because otherwise you would have to look with the left eye. |
Please contact me if you have information of such a rifle and particularly if you have a scope mount.
Another with rail on the left side - as mentioned in the beginning of this site.
Picture from the James D. Julia Auctions. Both rifles are in the mid of the
G41 ac43 production.
A very rare test rifle
Maybe made as an intermediate model before the G43 was final developed. It is not known if the rifle
was more reliable than the normal G41(W).
